What is UniFi Talk?
UniFi Talk is a novel approach to telephony for small and medium-sized businesses. It features a plug-and-play phone system with VoIP subscription service, powerful call routing, and admin features to ensure you never miss another call. Our thoughtfully designed, touchscreen phones offer breakthrough user experiences and bring smartphone-level usability to desk phones.
A complete UniFi Talk system consists of the UniFi Talk application running on a UniFi OS Host, one or more UniFi Talk devices, and UniFi Talk subscription service and phone numbers (optional).
What hardware is required to use UniFi Talk?
- A compatible UniFi Host: We recommend a UniFi OS Console to leverage the built-in UniFi gateway for optimal performance.
- A Cloud Key Gen2 Plus can be used for installations that don’t use UniFi Network.
- Note: A hard disk drive (HDD) is required to store call recordings, but UniFi Talk will still function without one.
- PoE switch(es): We recommend using a UniFi PoE switch to power and connect your UniFi Talk device(s).
- UniFi Talk devices: Only UniFi Talk devices are compatible with UniFi Talk.
Do I have to purchase a UniFi Talk phone number for each of my devices?
In general, UniFi Talk phone numbers can be shared by multiple devices with the groups feature.
The base version of the Phone Touch and Phone Touch Max must be assigned to a user with a unique, directly assigned UniFi Talk phone number and have an Internet connection to function. These phones can share numbers with groups after assignment to an eligible user. The Phone Touch and Phone Touch Max are ideal for configurations where each user is assigned a unique number to make and receive calls.
The Phone Touch (Unlocked) and Phone Touch Max (Unlocked) are ideal for configurations where users only share numbers with groups. These phones do not require assignment to a user with a unique, directly assigned UniFi Talk phone number nor do they require an Internet connection to function.
Internal calls between UniFi Talk users are free and do not require a subscription.
